Resource Groups
Resource groups are a convenient feature of the Multifactor dashboard and Management API that allow you to organize your resources in a logical and customizable way. In this article, we will explain what resource groups are, how to create them, and how to manage them.
What are Resource Groups?
Resource groups are a way to group multiple Multifactor resources together into logical categories. This can be useful for organizing resources by project, separating production and test resources, or any other organizational approach that makes sense for your team.
It's important to note that resources can only belong to one resource group at a time. This ensures that your resources are always organized in a clear and consistent way.
Creating a Resource Group
To create a new resource group, click the "New" button at the top right corner of the dashboard and then click "Group" in the dropdown. You can also create a new group by visiting https://app.multifactor.com/resources/groups/new. Enter a name and optional description for your new group, then click "Create." You can also choose to pin your resource group for easy access.
Viewing and Managing Resource Groups
To view all of your existing resource groups, click "Resource Groups" under "Resources" in the dashboard sidebar, or vist https://app.multifactor.com/resources/groups.
From this page, you can click on a specific group to view its details. Here, you can see a list of all the resources contained in the group and make changes to the group's name, description, or pinning status.
Managing Resources in a Group
From the group details page, you can view a list of resources contained in the group. You may click on the edit button to change the name, description, or pin/unpin. If a group is locked, you will not be able to change its settings.
To add or remove a resource from this group, visit the resource's settings page and changs its group assignment. Resources must belong to exactly one group at all times. If a resource is locked, you will not be able to change its settings, including what group it belongs to.
