Multifactor can hold your two-factor authentication (2FA) codes, so you don't need a separate authenticator app. It supports both TOTP (time-based) and HOTP (counter-based) codes.
Add a code
Open an account and click Add credential.
Choose TOTP or HOTP.
Add the secret one of three ways:
Scan a QR code with your camera.
Upload a QR image (a screenshot or saved picture).
Enter the secret manually (not recommended unless you have no QR code).
For HOTP, also enter the starting counter value.
Use a code
Open the account to see the code:
TOTP shows the current 6-digit code with a small timer; it refreshes automatically every 30 seconds.
HOTP shows a counter. Each time you reveal a code, the counter advances to the next one.
Click the code to reveal and copy it, then paste it into the service you're signing in to.
Tip: Already using Google Authenticator or a similar app? You can move all your codes over at once — see Import two-factor codes by QR.
TOTP vs. HOTP
TOTP (time-based) is by far the most common — almost every service that offers app-based 2FA uses it.
HOTP (counter-based) is rarer. Only choose it if the service specifically asks for a counter-based code.
