Store a password on any account, reveal or copy it when you need it, and generate strong new passwords without leaving Multifactor.
Add a password
Open an account and click Add credential.
Choose Password.
Type or paste the password, or generate one (below), then save.
Reveal and copy
On the account, a saved password is hidden by default.
Click the eye icon to reveal it.
Click the copy icon to copy it to your clipboard.
Generate a strong password
When adding or changing a password, open the generator to create a strong one:
Length — drag the slider to set how long the password is.
Character types — toggle letters, numbers, mixed case, and punctuation.
You can generate two ways:
Random — a one-off random password (the default).
Deterministic (MFDPG) — for accounts with a known website, Multifactor can derive the password from your account key, the site's domain, and a rotation counter. The same inputs always produce the same password, so you can regenerate it anywhere — even without opening your vault. To change it, increase the rotation counter to get the next password.
Tip: Deterministic generation is also available in the browser extension, so you can fill a freshly generated password straight into a sign-up form. See Generate passwords in the extension.
