Single Sign-On (SSO) factor

Link one account as the sign-in provider for another so access stays connected.

Some services let you sign in through another account — for example, "Sign in with Google." The Single Sign-On (SSO) factor records that link in Multifactor so the connection is clear and sharing stays correct.

Add an SSO factor

  1. Open the account that signs in through another service.

  2. Click Add credential and choose SSO.

  3. Search your vault and pick the account it signs in through (for example, choose your Google account for a service you log into with Google).

Choosing the account to sign in through

Multifactor confirms the link — this account will now sign in through the account you selected.

Why it matters for sharing

When you share an account that has an SSO factor, Multifactor automatically shares the linked sign-in account too, so the person you share with can complete the whole sign-in chain. On the shared account you'll see a Linked badge; that access can't be revoked on its own because it's required for the share to work.

Note: If the linked account becomes unavailable (for example, it was deleted), the SSO factor shows a "Linked account unavailable" warning. Re-link it to fix the chain.
